THE FALLEN SAKERETTE-SISTERS PROJECT
SUPPORTING & NURTURING THE CHILDREN LEFT BEHIND AFTER A MOTHER'S DEMISE
The SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE (STA) was honored to have, as the KEYNOTE SPEAKER for its INAUGURAL BALL on Saturday, July 17 2017, 23 year old Ms MPUMI NOBIVA, Motivational Speaker, Social Activist, Pioneer Graduate of the OPRAH WINFREY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY FOR GIRLS IN SOUTH AFRICA ... and AIDS ORPHAN. In her EPIC address to STA* and its distinguished guests, (Posted Below), she raised 2 disturbing and troubling issues:
- DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (Rampant and Increasing MURDERS of Women in South Africa and around the globe.)
- HIV/AIDS (The STIGMA attached to it and the need for AWARENESS)
She went on to mention that she and 13 year old CAMEROONIAN-AMERICAN Social Activist Ms MONGAI FANKAM, Founder of the NO BACK PACK DAY INITIATIVE were partnering in a CAMPAIGN to counter both issues, first in SOUTH AFRICA (2017) and then in CAMEROON (2018), as the Flyers and YouTube Video below indicate.
For the SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE which has, as one of its goals: "Seeking Ways and Means to nurture and transform the lives of girls and women to achieve their individual and collective potential, with a view to impacting their communities.", JOINING FORCES with these two young women made perfect sense. Completely in line with the PROJECT-ORIENTED organization that it is, STA took CONCRETE ACTION, donating the IMPRESSIVE SUM OF $3,000.00 to the MPUMI-MONGAI Campaign! (SEE PICTURES BELOW)

THE "NO BACKPACK DAY" INITIATIVE
In 2011, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Mrs. Leymah Gbowee came to Charlotte, North Carolina on March 20th, 2015 to support and endorse young philanthropist, Mongai Fankam, Creator of the NO BACKPACK DAY initiative. In September 2015, Mongai met with Dr. Joyce Banda, former President of the Republic of Malawi to talk about No Backpack Day. This past week (March 2017), The First Lady of Cape Verde, Mrs. Ligia Fonseca was in Charlotte to endorse and support her cause which has received recognition at Local, State and National Levels, within and without the United States and the Continent of Africa. STA was PRIVILEGED & HONORED to be a part of this initiative.
The group decided to take on one more modest but SIGNIFICANT step towards fulfilling its collective goal to "seek Ways and Means to ameliorate the Living Conditions, Educational Environment and Spiritual Growth of THE GIRL CHILD in Cameroon, in Africa & all Around the World". It decided to donate the sum of $1,000.00 to THE NO BACKPACK DAY INITIATIVE, a cause that is very dear to Ms MPUMI LELO NOBIVA, KEYNOTE SPEAKER at their INAUGURAL DINNER & BALL.
As the PICTURES & CAPTIONED PHOTO ALBUM posted below show, STA was well represented at the NO BACKPACK DAY INITIATIVE's FUNDRAISER, whose Keynote Speaker was none other than The First Lady of Cape Verde, Lígia Arcângela Lubrino Dias Fonseca, a Wife, Mother, Lawyer/Barrister, Author and Social Activist in her own right.

THE SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE EXECUTES ITS FIRST PROJECT!!!
The SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE, a SORORITY which is UNIQUE in so many ways, opted to adopt a "FROM THE OUTSIDE IN" approach when it decided on its very first project. It chose make its first mark in JANUARY which is HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS MONTH by taking action against one of the world's greatest scourges, as the following grim facts attest:
- Human trafficking is a $32 Billion a year industry. ($7 billion dollars more than McDonalds made in 2016)
- Human Trafficking is MODERN DAY SLAVERY and there are over 20 million enslaved today.
- Over 14,000 new victims are brought into the United States every year.
- OVER 10,000 WOMEN HAVE BEEN Trafficked Annually Over Superbowl Weekend!!!
STA decided to partner with Ms SHARMILA WIJEYAKUMAR, one of the most powerful voices in the fight against HUMAN TRAFFICKING; a fight she leads as the COO of RAHAB'S DAUGHTERS, an institution whose mission is to:
. Educate those around you about the realities & consequences of human trafficking
. Rescue victims
. Rehabilitate them &
. Reintegrate them back into a sustainable, safe lifestyle where they can thrive.
The SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE was privileged to partner with Ms WIJEYAKUMAR and RAHAB'S DAUGHTERS not just to help 6 PREVIOUSLY TRAFFICKED LADIES CURRENTLY IN A SAFE HOUSE head back to school, (PHASE I), but to assist in this year's "SUPERBOWL RESCUE EFFORT" in HOUSTON, TEXAS. (PHASE II)
PHASE I: DONATION OF $1,000.00 CHECK TO RAHAB'S DAUGHTERS
CHICAGO, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11 2017
On the evening of Wednesday, January 11 2017, STA's LIASON OFFICER, Mrs. RUTH BOKWE AYUKESONG for whom all of this is no novelty given her position as CHIEF of the Bureau of Domestic & Sexual Violence Intervention & Human Trafficking at the Illinois Department of Human Services, hand delivered the modest but symbolic sum of $ 1,000.00 donated by STA MEMBERS, to RAHAB'S DAUGHTERS!!!

STA SUPERBOWL 2017 INTERVENTION.
The SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE'S partnership with RAHAB'S DAUGHTERS was planned to be executed in 2 phases: The $1,000 check donation already executed on January 11 2017 in CHICAGO, (see photos above), and then actual, physical participation in the SUPERBOWL 2017 INTERVENTION EFFORTS ahead of "THE BIG GAME" on Sunday, February 4 2017.
The HOUSTON-based STA Members therefore donned their "STA HELPING HANDS" T-shirts on Monday, January 30 and joined Ms Sam Wijeyakumar (COO of Rahab's Daughters) and her team in their efforts to sensitize the public at large about the underlying SEX TRAFFICKING aspect of the SUPERBOWL blitz.
COMING UP SOON ... "THE POST-SAKER DIMENSION" SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNIVERSITY/PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTION-BOUND GRADUATES OF SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE.
Instead of offering scholarships/financial aid to students currently enrolled in SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE - certainly a noble endeavor already undertaken by many - individually or collectively, STA* thinks it useful to "PICK UP THE RELAY BATON" at POST-SAKER LEVEL. We are intent on seeking ways to help students continue their education or professional training AFTER they graduate from SBC.
In the past, students in Cameroon actually received a stipend to attend university. Now, TUITION is required, and, as could be expected, there are quite a few - SAKERETTES included, who cannot afford it.
The SAKERETTES TRANSGLOBAL ALLIANCE fully intends to help one or two who might find themselves faced with this predicament.
